LaunchTrends®: New Products in Multiple Sclerosis
A series of reports tracking the response to and uptake of Acorda’s AMPYRA (dalfampridine) and Novartis’ EXTAVIA (interferon β-1b) and their impact on the Multiple Sclerosis market.
Study Overview:
LaunchTrends® are syndicated reports that track the trial, adoption and usage of new products. These report series provide information on how new products fit into the treatment algorithm, impact current therapies and change market dynamics. They also provide information on awareness, familiarity, perceived clinical advantages and disadvantages of new products, and the promotional messages and activities of all market players.
Methodology:
A total of four waves of research will occur. A baseline wave was published in January 2010 on the initial response to EXTAVIA. In the remaining waves, neurologists will complete a self-administered online survey, providing information about their perceptions, attitudes and usage of AMPYRA and EXTAVIA. Following the survey, a subset of respondents will participate in qualitative phone interviews to probe into reasons for anticipated action or inaction as well as details surrounding the promotion of AMPYRA and EXTAVIA.
Sample Frame:
In each of the four waves, a random sample of 75 neurologists will participate in the online quantitative survey. A subset of the survey respondents (n=20) will participate in each wave of the qualitative phone interviews. Each wave will consist of unique respondents.
Timing:
The Baseline report following the EXTAVIA launch was published on January 13, 2010. Wave 1 was fielded one month (April 2010) post launch of AMPYRA and published on May 28, 2010. The remaining two waves will be fielded at four (July 2010) and seven (October 2010) months post launch of AMPYRA.
Deliverables:
In addition to the four reports in power point format following each wave of the study (with tracking from prior waves), a complete set of frequency tables and summary statistics will be provided for each wave. Onsite or web-cast presentations are available upon request at no charge. Clients who purchase the report series are invited to include up to five proprietary questions in each wave at no additional charge.
